While Sir Walter Raleigh never touched the shores of North America his legacy of piracy, robbery, theft and murder proceeded him. Raleigh was known for his leadership in beheading over 600 people and introducing tobacco to England which nearly saved their economy. Tobacco would further fuel the need for the first slaves to arrive in 1619 where Africans began its 400 year quest for freedom.
